What We Aim To Achieve
Who we are
We are a team of professional engineering educators outside academia committed to transforming how colleges teach engineering to truly develop the skills required in today’s evolving industry. We teach engineering in collaborative multidisciplinary teams, designing and creating products with manufacturing in mind culminating in capstone projects manufactured both domestically and overseas.
Mission and Vision
Equip engineers with skills needed to be career ready. Provide future engineers real mentorships and the skills to take a product from a concept to market providing current and future engineers practical concepts needed to build a workforce that is ready to fill real industry needs in the design and manufacturing process.
A modern approach
Engineers receive a strong theoretical foundation but are underprepared for the practical applications needed to be competitive in today’s global manufacturing world. Traditionally, employers have borne the responsibility of training and mentoring new engineers to develop them into fully capable professionals—a process that can take a year or more. To fulfill national needs, we must train engineers for work in modern environments: diverse multidisciplinary teams blending theory with practical knowledge and applying both to the design-for-manufacturing process.
Better Utilization of Interdisciplinary Learning and Development (BUILD) program aims to revolutionize engineering departments across the nation by supplementing the important theoretical aspects of traditional engineering programs with practical engineering concepts needed to build a work force that is ready for the coming resurgence of manufacturing in the Western Hemisphere.
The primary goal of the program is to prepare engineering graduates to be “field ready”.
