The Potato BUILD Philosophy

Self awareness is a valuable tool for individuals, cultures, and even training programs. Knowing your “hall file,” how others describe you, is insightful.

This description of our program, apparently being affectionally called the Potato BUILD philosophy, was given to us by an outside professional instructional systems designer:

Give a person a potato and they eat for a day.

Teach a person to grow potatoes and they eat for a lifetime. But they have to eat potatoes.

Teach a person agricultural science and they will eat what they want whenever they want.

The BUILD philosophy is to learn how to develop agricultural science and engineering.

Summary: What’s in this for you?

The BUILD program doesn’t ask you to memorize things. Instead, we teach you how to figure out what you need, quickly develop a plan to apply what you need, and bring it to practice. Let other people blindly follow a list of step-by-step instructions. You are a highly intelligent being and we respect and grow that part of you.
