The BUILD Experience
Like many aspects of BUILD, The BUILD Experience has a double meaning. This is no accident.
First and foremost, the Building Program aims to give students an unprecedented amount of practical engineering experience during their undergraduate career, graduating them as fully functional engineers immediately contributing upon graduation.
But much more than that the BUILD Program is an immersion experience. It’s not just a collection of classes and not just a training program. It’s a full experience.
For students, the experience begins with their first class. Read about that here.
For mentors, the paying it backward and forward reward is big. You will be part of the BUILD culture and network.
For teachers, you will experience the most enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and motivated students you’ve ever met. The sense of contribution one gets for teaching is why most of us went into academia (it certainly wasn’t for the money!). You’re going to see this contribution while they’re still at school as their work transcends from theoretical projects to manufacturable products.
For schools, you will go beyond bureaucratic academia. BUILD’s white glove experience makes it easy to immerse the students in a world beyond academia without physically leaving campus. You will partner with sponsors who will transform your school and will clamor for you graduates.
From day one, the students work on a multidisciplinary engineering team where they are relying on each other. They hold design reviews, joining the modern engineering culture and expanding their network beyond their teams as they interact with students from other schools, manufacturers, and engineers who currently work in industry.
They work in well-equipped state-of-the-art labs and learn organization, tool discipline, and how to be great team leaders and team members.
Summary: What’s in this for you?
This isn’t a somehow-get-through-the-classes-and-graduate. This is a BUILD experience. You’re going to enjoy this.
