What being a BUILD teacher means to you
Being a BUILD teacher is probably the easiest of the BUILD roles because you already know wjat you need to know and can focus on the theoretical aspects of the education. The BUILD program offers a number of opportunities for you. Most BUILD teachers are traditional teaching-track engineering college professors.
The BUILD program is going to give you some help with your teaching, freeing up some of your resources to focus on what you do best.
Below are some of the opportunities the BUILD program offers you as an engineering college professor, which we prefer to call a teacher as it more accurately captures our program goals.
You will have a BUILD mentor teaching approximately half of your BUILD class meetings.
You will have very engaged, super enthusiastic students because they will know why they want to learn the concepts you are teaching.
You can give students assignments to build what they are learning about because they will have machines to make printed circuit boards, mechanical mechanisms, antennas, and just about anything else. And they will know how to build these things on their own!
You will be part of a powerful BUILD network where you and your colleagues can work together, guest lecturing in each other’s classes leveraging your particular expertise.
